Overview of ICEGATE 2.0 DSC Mandate
The Indian Customs Electronic Data Interchange Gateway (ICEGATE) is the national portal for filing customs documents including Bills of Entry, Shipping Bills, and e-Sanchit customs clearances. To ensure tamper-proof electronic authentication under the Customs Act and IT Act 2000, ICEGATE mandates that all authorized signatories, Custom House Agents (CHAs), and IEC holders digitally sign transactions using a Class 3 Digital Signature Certificate (DSC).
Without an active, verified DSC mapped to your ICEGATE profile, your customs clearance shipments risk severe demurrage delays at Indian air cargo complexes and sea ports.
Pre-Requisites for ICEGATE DSC Registration
Before initiating registration on the ICEGATE portal, verify that you have configured your local computer environment with the following essentials:
- Class 3 Combo DSC: A valid Signing and Encryption certificate stored on an authorized FIPS-compliant USB token (ePass2003, Watchdata, or mToken).
- ICEGATE PKI Component: The official Java-based PKI signing component utility downloaded from the ICEGATE utility repository and running with administrative privileges.
- Valid IEC Number: Active Importer Exporter Code linked with the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) portal.
- Supported Browser Environment: Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge with local loopback communication enabled for port 8080/8443.
